Cairns – Green Island Day Trip

This post from Cairns we’re heading off to Green Island to experience all it has to offer, and we’re getting there by catamaran. We’re just coming up on the island. It’s beautiful. This is one of the only places that you can snorkel in the Great Barrier Reef from the beach. Woo! Oh my goodness, the water’s great. There’s so many fish just swimming around, and oh, this is surreal. It’s time to hop on the glass bottom boat. Let’s check out some coral. This is so cool. You know, they’re swimming underneath, and usually there’s a floor here, but it’s glass, so it feels like I’m walking on water. The fish are right underneath me. Water sports works up quite the appetite, so I grabbed some food from the buffet, and I get to enjoy it as I look out over the reef. Let’s go check out the reef on the semi-submersible sub. Wow. We are actually surrounded by fish right now. There’s so many different kinds. Just wanna reach out and touch it. That was incredible. On to the next adventure. On this island, the fun never stops. It’s time for the Seawalker. So the way the Seawalker works is you have this big helmet that you put on over your head, and it holds air inside, and this allows you to see all the fish, all the coral, without having to swim. I felt like an astronaut underwater, in a completely different world. One of the best experiences of my entire life. Wow! This has been such an exhilarating day. Green Island has so many ways to explore the Great Barrier Reef. This truly is paradise.
