It crosses Ozark National Forest, leading from Fort Smith State Park northeast to the Buffalo National River. The trail passes over mountains, with some fine views, and leads through oak-hickory forests. Difficulty varies from easy to strenuous. Camping Regulations: Except for the westernmost six miles of the trail, camping is allowed along the way, as are campfires. No permits are required.
