Fder’s House is the oldest part of Bishops. It’s at the core of the Diocesan College, founded by Bishop Robert Gray in 1850 and soon referred to as the Bishop’s school. A school for boys, it began life informally in 1849 at the bishop’s own house, Protea (now known as Bishopscourt), up on Wynberg Hill.
