					<description><![CDATA[<p>LOS PADRES NATIONAL FOREST 1,724,000 acres. This huge National Forest consists of two tracts along the coast of south-central California, with lands northwest of Los Angeles as well as in the Big Sur area to the north. There are several mountain ranges here, with 8,831-foot Mount Pinos the highest point. The rugged scenery in Los Padres includes steep peaks, sculpted rock formations, canyons, and cliffs. A portion of the famous Big Sur coastline falls within the forest boundaries, along with some areas of desert. In the region are some notable rivers, streams with waterfalls, and hot springsplus oak woodlands, forests </p>
