Superb views are available from open areas near the top. Terrain at higher elevations is quite rugged, with rock formations and arctic-alpine tundra near the summit. Below are hardwood forests with old-growth fir and other conifers, plus some streams. Wildlife includes white-tailed deer, black bear, coyote, and fox. Activities: There are several trails for backpacking and hiking, including a section of the Long Trail (see entry page 282).
