Delaware State Forest consists of several tracts in the Po-conos of northeast Pennsylvania, near the Delaware River. This is an area of mountain plateau, with some lakes and ponds, swamps and bogs, and streams with waterfalls. There are five designated Natural Areas here. Most of the land is hardwood-forested, with oak, aspen, birch, and some conifers. Wildlife includes deer, black bear, bobcat, and fox. Activities: Backpacking and hiking are available on the Thunder Swamp Trail System, which includes the rather easy 28-mile Thunder Swamp Trail and side trails. Horseback riding is allowed
