WHERE TO PLAY Puerto Rico has something to offer every type of active couple on holiday. The island’s scenery varies wildly, offering dry forests, rainforests, mountains, caves and canyons. Sneak away to El Yunque National Forest on the island’s northwest tip to play together in waterfalls and under the jungle canopy. Or head west to spend the day in the Rio Camuy Cave Park, wandering the network of 200 caves.

PUERTO RICO WHERE ROMANTIC AMBIENCE IS ACCESSIBLE Puerto Rico has a lot to off er: It’s easy for guests (fl ights are inexpensive and plentiful from many U.S. gateways, and passports aren’t required), and Old San Juan and its neighboring beaches have plenty of historic charm to complement the year-round sunshine. History and style converge at the Condado Vanderbilt, a 316-room beachfront hotel that dates to 1919 but reopened in 2014 with luxurious yet aff ordable accommodations and beautiful wedding venues. Welcome canapes and cocktails (serve sangria and mojitos), terrace vows and a plated dinner reception with a four-hour open

Puerto Ricans are very sociable and affectionate. Kissing the check as greeting especially among females is common and customary. Puerto Ricans are passionate when it comes to island politics and it is best to stay away from this topic to prevent triggering arguments. Dress up like the locals if you’re going with them to prevent getting attention to yourself. In most cases, adults don’t wear shorts in the public. Wearing shorts when not at the beach or gym will mostly automatically identify you as a tourist. Your safest clothing option when venturing out, especially at night are plain colored tops

The early twentieth century is pocketed with Connecticut interaction with the peoples and places of Latin America and the Caribbean. Yale University professor Hiram Bingham directed an expedition to Peru in 1914 and 1915. His partial excavation of the site of Machu Pichu, high in the Andes, resulted in the importation of thousands of artifacts from Peru. The intellectual exchanges as a result of Hiram Bingham’s expeditions resulted in long-term connections between Peru and Connecticut.
