From there the trail continues to descend into the narrow valley seen from the overlook. As you walk down the slope of the ridge, notice the change in the forest makeup from predominately maple to mostly white birch and balsam. On the valley floor, a small stream flows into a beaver pond on the right side of the trail. On the other side of the bridge, the trail once again climbs a ridge covered with large white birches and maples.
