There are meadows, grasslands, and forests of pine and fir, with aspen. Included are over a halfmillion acres of old-growth trees. Elk, mule deer, black bear, bighorn sheep, mountain goat, and lynx are among the wildlife. This National Forest has one designated wilderness area, which consists of 331,600 acres of the 2,361,767-acre Frank Church-River of No Return
