Visit to Pennsylvania RECOMMENDED LOCATIONS FORBES STATE FOREST 50,000 acres. Forbes State I Forest is made up of a number of tracts in the Laurel Ridge area of southwestern Pennsylvania. The highest point in the state, 3,213-foot Mount Davis, is located here as part of the 581-acre Mount Davis Natural Area. Also of note are the 4,675-acre Quebec Run Wild Area and the 3,593-acre Roaring Run Natural Area. Located on the Allegheny Plateau in the north-central part of the state, and with some rugged terrain, Tioga State Forest is noted for 800-foot-deep Pine Creek Gorge, known as Pennsylvania’s Grand Canyon.
