					<description><![CDATA[<p>Tennessee Guide for Tourist SOUTH CUMBERLAND STATE RECREATION AREA 12,000 acres. Situated at the southern end of the Cumberland Plateau, in south-central Tennessee, this scenic state recreation area consists of seven separate tracts of land. Largest by far is the 11,400-acre Savage Gulf Natural Area. Savage Gulf includes virgin forest and three deep gulfs (gorges) overlooked by sandstone cliffs, with large streams and waterfalls. Throughout the recreation area are oak-hickory forests with pine and hemlock, plus mountain laurel. Deer, bobcat, and fox are among the wildlife. Activities: Hiking and backpacking are possible on 85 miles of trails in the area. </p>
