					<description><![CDATA[<p>Bruning’s was a famous/venerable New Orleans establishment/institution that opened in 1859 and sat on Lake Pontchartrain. Teodor Bruning had purchased a beautiful wooden bar that was built almost a decade before. When the Katrina hit in 2005, the restaurant and its bar sank into the lake. Though the restaurant was gone, the bar was salvaged by the Bruning family, who donated it to the Southern Food and Beverage Museum In 2009, the museum restored the bar, and today visitors to the museum can have a drink at this beauty, which is constructed of numerous types of wood and has faux-marble </p>
