Bordering on the Rio Grande in southwest Texas, alongside the U.S.-Mexican boundary, Big Bend National Park contains the state&#8217;s largest area of wilderness. Included here are the Chisos Mountains and other mountain ranges. Highest point is 7,825-foot Emory Peak. 					<description><![CDATA[<p>Texas Travel SABINE NATIONAL FOREST Largest of this state&#8217;s National Forests, Sabine is situated along the eastern border of Texas, next to enormous Toledo Bend Reservoir. There&#8217;s one designated wilderness area, the 9,946-acre Indian Mounds Wilderness. Throughout the forest are many creeks, with several developed recreation areas located alongside the reservoir. Activities: Only a few short hiking and nature trails are found here, although backpacking is allowed anywhere in the National Forest. Hunting and fishing are permitted in season. Camping Regulations: Camping and campfires are allowed throughout the region, except near public use areas or where otherwise prohibited. No permits </p>

					<description><![CDATA[<p>Traveling in Texas ANGELINA NATIONAL FOREST Angelina National Forest is located on both sides of huge Sam Rayburn Reservoir in east Texas, on the Gulf Coastal Plain. Included here are the Neches and Angelina Rivers, along with some creeks. There are areas of piney woods forested with longleaf pine and bald cypress, with magnolia and dogwood, and two designated wilderness areas: the 12,650-acre Upland Island Wilderness, and the 5,286-acre Turkey Hill Wilderness. Activities: Canoeing is available on the Neches and Angelina Rivers. Horseback riding is allowed. Hiking and backpacking are mainly limited to short trails. Longest is the 5.5-mile Sawmill </p>

					<description><![CDATA[<p>Visit to Texas CADDO/LBJ NATIONAL GRASSLANDS These two National Grasslands in northeast Texas are administered together. Lyndon B. Johnson National Grassland (20,320 acres) consists of a number of tracts in close proximity, and includes two sizable lakes. Caddo National Grassland (17,796 acres) has a mix of public and private lands, with three lakes and a recreation area. Deer and wild turkey are among the wildlife found here. Activities: Hiking, backpacking, and horseback riding are allowed, but aside from a couple of established trails, most travel must be on roads, old paths, or cross-country.
