Both of these rivers have National Wild and Scenic River status, with the St. Croix River forming part of the Wisconsin-Minnesota border. Along the Riverway are some high cliffs, as well as forests, marshes, swamps, and pools. The rivers are dammed in several places. Among the area’s wildlife are bear, coyote, and fox.
