The area is forested with oak, maple, and other hardwoods, plus pine and cedar, and there are some lakes and streams. Wildlife includes deer, coyote, and fox. Activities: The forest has about 70 miles of trails for backpacking and hiking, including the 29-mile Glacial Trail. Cross-country skiing is possible during winter on many of the trails. There are also designated horse trails, including the 33-mile Kettle Moraine Bridle Trail, and horses may be rented nearby.
