This National Forest in the northern part of Utah is made up of numerous tracts, including lands near Salt Lake City. In the region are the Wasatch and Uinta Mountains, with many elevations over 10,000 feet. Highest point is 13,442-foot Gilbert Peak. Scenery includes rugged, snow-capped mountains, rock outcroppings, steep ridges, and deep canyons, with hundreds of lakes and streams. There are forests of spruce, fir, pine, and aspen.
