There are over 900 lakes here, some of which are remote, along with several rivers, numerous streams, and some swamps. Wildlife includes deer, black bear, coyote, fox, and bald eagle. Activities: The forest has more than 18 miles of trails for hiking and backpacking, including the 15-mile Lumberjack Trail, and over 30 miles of trails designated for cross-country skiing during the snow season. 					<description><![CDATA[<p>Travel to Wisconsin NICOLET NATIONAL FOREST 661,000 acres. Located in northeastern Wisconsin, this National Forest has hilly and occasionally rugged terrain with some rock formations. Elevations range from 860 feet to 1,880 feet, and fine views are available. Several major rivers flow through the forest, which also has a large number of streams, over 1,200 lakes, and some swamps and bogs. Trees include hardwoods along with hemlock and pine. Black bear and white-tailed deer are among the region&#8217;s wildlife. There are three designated wilderness areas: the 20,000-acre Headwaters Wilderness, the 7,500-acre Whisker Lake Wilderness, and the 5,890-acre Blackjack Springs Wildernessplus </p>

Located in southeastern Wisconsin, Kettle Moraine State Forest&#8217;s northern unit has a hilly glacial landscape. The area is forested with oak, maple, and other hardwoods, plus pine and cedar, and there are some lakes and streams. Wildlife includes deer, coyote, and fox. Activities: The forest has about 70 miles of trails for backpacking and hiking, including the 29-mile Glacial Trail. Cross-country skiing is possible during winter on many of the trails. There are also designated horse trails, including the 33-mile Kettle Moraine Bridle Trail, and horses may be rented nearby. </p>
