It’s a natural a used audio place on the MIT campus. Q bills itself as the world’s smallest hi-fi shop but actually has quite a lot of equipment, with plenty of options for the budget (but serious) audiophile. New, used, and B-stock, or factory blemished items, are all sold at discount.
The brands cover the spectrum, but mosdy favor high-end stuff: Paradigm, Marantz, Harman/Kardon, Carver, and the like. Speakers by Klipsch, Polk, and Boston Acoustics were recently selling at 50% off list prices. Plus refurbished turntables, as well as the latest in DAT and satellite TV toys. Among used items, Mine noted a Pioneer receiver for $88, an NAD compact disc player for $125, and a Yamaha cassette deck for $99.
