The Maine Sportsman, a monthly where-to-go-in-Maine outdoor publication, sponsors The One That Didn’t Get Away Club, which recognizes anglers who have caught trophy freshwater fish in Maine waters. A few Maine sporting goods stores carry club application cards. Otherwise, you can write or call The Maine Sportsman directly (P.O. Box 910, Yarmouth, ME 04096-0910, telephone 207-846-9501 or toll-free in Maine 1-800-6989501) to obtain application cards and a list of minimum weights for the different species. Qualifying anglers are awarded a membership card and jacket patch, and gain the satisfaction of belonging to the select group of anglers who have taken trophy fish. The Maine Sportsman also sponsors the Tacklebusters Club for saltwater species. The same address and phone numbers apply.
