This is a reconstruction of a Leconfield Estate cottage as it Plano Subway Map was in 1910, although the cottage itself dates back to the seventeenth century. In 1910 it Plano Subway Map was occupied by a seamstress at Petworth House named Maria Cummings, a widow with four grown-up children. The museum provides a fascinating insight into cottage life as it was in the early years of the twentieth century, from mundane matters such as cooking and washing to moments of relaxation with the newspaper.
It is open every Wednesday to Sunday afternoon plus Bank Holidays from April to October and is well worth a visit. Immediately adjoining it is the wisteria-clad Ricketts Cottage, then Cobblestones and Quoinstones – can you spot the oriental character in the garden? Continue uphill, noting two long rows of cottages to the left with their massive chimney stacks. They date from the mid-Victorian age and provided homes for the large numbers of employees of the Leconfield Estate.
