Intercontinental Shenzhen
Yes, we like elegantly themed hotels in Shenzhen and this is another. Spanish this time with toreador hats, flamenco skirts and a Spanish galleon out the front, which must be five times as big as the biggest galleon ever built. We used to stay here in the primordial times when this was the Shenzhen Bay Hotel and the change is magnificent.
The hotel has 540 rooms and 77 suites. It has several Spanish restaurants and a Brazilian restaurant, which is to every other Brazilian restaurant in Shenzhen as the Ritz is to McDonald’s. We love the real Thai restaurant, Coriander and the award-winning Art Deco restaurant Pipette.
It is perfectly situated on Shennan Ave at the Hua Qiao Cheng metro and also a transfer point for Hong Kong cross-border buses. The Intercontinental is surrounded by the theme parks of OCT. The Galleon Bar is 24 metres above ground and the deck is a great spot for taking in the dazzling night view over Shennan Avenue or watching the Windows nightly fireworks display at 8:45 pm from the deck of the galleon with a cocktail in hand.
