Boca Grande is a Mex-food chain that doesn’t feel like a chain; it certainly puts Taco Bell to shame. This is real food, fresh and delicious.
The atmosphere is hip, with an open kitchen, lots of plants, and walls painted in bright southwestern colors of clay and turquoise. The food is made to your order, with all fresh ingredients. You can have a full meal, like the half-chicken with warm tortillas and salsa for $3.95, or the Mexican plate, with your choice of beef, chicken, or spicy pork (camitas) plus beans, rice, and salsa for $3.75.
Or put a meal together from tacos, burritos, guacamole, chips, que-sadilla, and more. The burritos gran-des, by the way, are gigantic for just $3.50. Regular specials include a black bean tostada with chicken, beef, or vegetarian for $2.25; or eggplant taquitos, with guacamole, jalap-enos, onions, and cilantro, at $2.95 for six.
The Mass. Ave. spot, open daily, has tables by the window; the branch near the Cambridgeside Galleria, closed Sundays, has a separate room upstairs, which is a quiet and cozy way to dine.
