Why pay upscale prices at Marino’s Restaurant when you can get the same food on the same premises for much less? Recently moved here from Harvard Square, Caffe Marino features cafeteria-style service, which means that you can survey all your options before deciding. This is not as easy as it sounds; everything looks so tempting. And it’s fresh too, since Marino’s has its own farm in Natick from which it obtains organic vegetables and chemical-free meats (see the listing under Entertainment Outdoors).
The menu here changes daily. On a lunch visit, Mine enjoyed a large wedge of frittata studded with vegetables for just $3. Bruschetta loaded with fresh tomatoes was $2.25 a slice. And $4.95 buys a heaping plate of linguine prepared with olive oil and garlic. There’s also a salad bar, stocked with that organic produce. Meat lovers can opt for hot specialties like chicken picante ($7.95); all hot dishes come with pasta, risotto, or vegetables. For a lighter lunch, try sandwiches on focaccia bread for as little as $2.50.
Afterwards, Mine was tempted by six flavors of Italian ice cream ($1.95 a dish) and a chocolatey roll cake ($1.75 a slice). Espresso and cappuccino drinks are also served. The Caffe is open from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sundays through Thursdays; Fridays and Saturdays to 10 p.m.
