Ken’s original Newton cafe is, in fact, a converted cabin trailer next to a gas station not as trendy a spot as the name implies, but then, that keeps the overhead costs low. And that means low prices for high quality. No wonder that trailer’s been there for twenty years now.
Mixed bouquets start at just $3, with larger ones available for $4.95. Same price for a dozen carnations. A dozen red roses, with 16-inch stems, go for an incredible $9.95; longer stems run you only five dollars more. There are also fancy cut flowers, like irises and tulips, in season; ditto for planting annuals by the flat. And a recent special offered all hanging plants at just $7.95 a great deal.
Deliveries can be arranged (no pun intended); the stores are open ‘ seven days a week year-round, including all major holidays. Ken’s offers volume discounts, as well as a 20% discount for senior citizens. And there’s even a warranty of four days on cut flowers, provided you follow their care instructions. How many florists do that’!
