Independently owned stalls, sharing the rent to cut costs, offer low prices on a world of clothing, housewares, furniture, and assorted goods. Dealers hawk jewelry (solid gold and cheap gold-plated), home and car stereo, shoes, inexpensive foreign-made clothing, linens, and more. Some include warranties and return policies; some are cash-only.
There are even a couple of stores-within-the-store. Krazy Jack’s Surplus looks like a mini-version of its next-door neighbor same closeout rummage tables, same wacky cartoon image of the owner smiling down from the walls. If there’s such a thing as a poor man’s Building 19, this is it. Nearby, Town and Country Home Furnishings sells brand-new inexpensive furniture the kind that comes in ensembles like a seven-piece dining table set for $258.
There’s a greasy-spoon coffee shop inside as well; out front, C & M Produce sells fresh fruits and vegetables. And, after all those options, if you still can’t find a deal on what you’re looking for, there’s now a Wal-Mart next door. Mass. Merchandise is open
