This sounds as though it should be another fine Irish music pub, named as it is after the famous O’Casey play; but in fact, it’s good ol’ American rock n roll spoken here. The owner, who is from Dublin, says flippantly, There’s no such thing as an American bar in Ireland; why should there be an Irish bar in America? Fortunately for the rest of us, other proprietors disagree. Meanwhile, this is a popular neighborhood hangout, boisterous and crowded at night. Live bands play folk, reggae, blues, and rock every night of the week. There’s only a cover charge on Thursday, Friday, Saturday and it’s a mere $2. What’s more, if you come in before 9 P.M. they don’t charge the cover at all! Great beers on tap.
