Santa Cruz Wedding Venues

I met Jeremy in 2010 when I arrived in England for a semester abroad. A native Englishman, he was assigned to give me a campus tour. Within weeks we were dating, and our relationship grew as I returned to the States, graduated and took a job in Washington, D.C. During a visit there in 2013, he proposed.

I had always dreamed of a wedding on the Northern California coast near my hometown of Saratoga, and Jeremy agreed to make that dream come true. When we found Castle House & Garden in a redwood grove near Santa Cruz, we fell in love with its wild beauty, and we set the date: May 18, 2014. The venue’s hands-on owner, Teresa Sabankaya, recommended our planner, Connie Sanchez of Wedding Architects, and our fullservice caterer, Feast for a King. We reserved rooms for guests in Santa Cruz at the Mission Inn and Hotel Paradox, where we also stayed.

Two nights before the wedding, we hosted a rehearsal dinner at The Crow’s Nest restaurant in Santa Cruz Harbor. On Sunday, 78 guests gathered at the Castle House “fairy ring,” a circle of 100-foot redwood trees, where my childhood pastor, the Rev. Ali Hasan, married us. A dinner of grilled tri-tip steak and Napa Valley-style salmon was served steps away in an elegant courtyard. After toasts and dancing galore, my family surprised us with a getaway to the appropriately named Dream Inn on the beach in Santa Cruz, as well as a getaway vehicle.British!”
