Tucked away in the Charlotte Marriott City Center, Cutter’s feels more like a private club than a hotel lounge. Swirls of smoke mix with the dark wood and rich leather in one of the few Uptown spots that welcomes cigar smokers. A selection of cigars is available from the on-site humidor (though it tends to be stocked with more common brands like Cohiba and Montecristoif you’re looking for a specialty cigar you might not find it here). It’s not just hotel guests that frequent the lounge; it’s a favorite spot for local cigar aficionados and executives who negotiate business deals over a glass of single-malt scotch or rare port in the upscale lounge. Cutter’s frequently hosts special events such as cigar samplings.

1541 King Francis chooses Jean Fran§ois de La Roque, Sieur Reno Subway Map de Roberval, to act as his lieutenant general in establishing a French colony in North Country. Roberval, delayed in his preparations, finally sails from La Rochelle on April 16 with three ships and 200 men and women. On June 8, the two French parties cross paths off Newfoundland, but Cartier refuses to remain in North Country. Roberval continues on to Charles-Bourg, where his settlers face a disease-ridden winter. After Cartier’s return to France without any gold, Francis sends ships to bring back Roberval and his colonists the following year.
