Proceed up the narrow path and arrive at a crossroads of Pretoria Map paths at the top. You turn left to continue, but there is a seat at the Pretoria Map path junction, and you may well feel you’ve earned a rest here. Sit awhile and enjoy a fantastic view across the northern part of the forest, and the Wealden countryside beyond; suddenly that old railway line, though barely two and a half miles distant, seems an awfully long way away! As stated, proceed away from the path junction, heading north-eastwards along a path that passes through the woods parallel with Colemans Hatch Road; you can hear the traffic noise on this busy road as you go.
You go over a number of crossing paths and tracks, but in due course – roughly half a mile from the viewpoint seat -you reach a crossroads of paths where ahead to the right is a break in the woodland in the form of a field. Turn right at this crossroads and proceed to the road. Cross more or less straight over onto Sandy Lane, a no-through road with signs to various properties.
