BRAC ISLAND: BOL
Central Dalmatia’s largest island, Brae is an ocean-lover’s paradise. Most visitors come here for Zlatni rat, a peninsula of white pebble beach and emerald waters, just a short walk from the town center of Bol. The 1475 Dominican Monastery, on the eastern tip of Bol, displays Tintoretto’s altar painting of the Madonna with Child. (Open daily lOam-noon and 5-7pm. lOkn.) The ferry from Split docks at Supetar (lhr. 7-13 per day, 23kn). From there, take a bus to Bol (lhr. 5 per day, 15kn). The last bus back to the ferry leaves at 5:50pm. From the bus station, walk left for 5min. to reach the tourist office, Porad bolskich pomorca bb, on the far side of the small marina. ( 63 56 38; tzo-bol@st.tel.hr.) Adria Tours, Obala Vladimira Nazora 28, to the right facing the sea from the bus station, rents small motorcycles (120kn per half-day, 200kn per day) and cars (400kn per day including mileage), and also books rooms.
