Wholesale Rug Shak Boston US Map & Phone & Address
173 Msgr. O’Brien Highway, Cambridge; (617) 576-SHAK (7425)
The owner of this shak claims that his prices are lower than any he’s seen and he may well be right. This shop buys and cuts rugs straight out of the mill, with no distributors to inflate the prices. All the rugs on sale are new and first quality. There are a few wool weaves, like a 6′ x 9′ handmade wool Oriental for $219; but synthetic rugs make up the bulk of the stock here. You can get a 9′ x 12′ piece of heavy synthetic carpeting for just $79, roughly less than half of retail. Commercial carpeting, high-quality low pile, starts at just $4 a yard.
Mine saw some famous brand names here: Mohawk, Galaxy, and Aladdin among others. At the high end of the Galaxy range, a thick pile carpeting was $11.95 a yard (normally $26-$27 a yard retail). Berber rugs are $4 to $6 per yard. If you’re still in school (or living as if you were!), check out the student corner, where Mine saw an 8′ x 10′ remnant for a thrifty $20. All rugs carry a warranty of at least a year, the average length of warranty is five years. Open Mondays through Wednesdays from 9:30 am. to 6:30 P.M.; Thursdays and Fridays to 9 P.M.; and Saturdays to 6 p.m.
