Mystery Train Records Boston US Map & Phone & Address
306 Newbury St. Boston; (617) 536-0216
1208 Massachusetts Ave. Cambridge; (617) 497-4024
As you may guess from the name, this place can really give you a case of the blues secondhand (rock too, of course). These are mainly on tapes and CDs; the original Cambridge store, in particular, is tiny. Vinyl fans will do better at the Boston branch which also offers used videos for $7 or so.
Most records and cassettes are priced around $3 to $5. Compact discs are about $8 to $9 for most popular groups. And there are lots of rare records, British imports, 1950s lounge music, and the like, starting around $15 to $20. MT also has a good selection of movie soundtracks and Broadway musicals. Open seven days a week, until 7 p.m. in Cambridge, 7:30 in Boston.
