ELECTRONICS US Map & Phone & Address
There are lots of places to save money on appliances and electronics in Boston. Some, unfortunately, are as far below repute as they are below retail. With merchandise that is imported from foreign countries, there is a greater possibility of shady deals, or inferior quality. Mine says this not out of any kind of prejudice, but because he wants you to be careful.
One of the best ways to protect yourself, if you have doubts as to any store’s reliability, is to ask about their guarantee policy; make sure the item you want carries an American warranty. Since some stores deal directly with manufacturers in the Far East, their merchandise many carry a foreign warranty instead. Even for identical products, a foreign warranty can make repairs a hassle unless you don’t mind paying the postage to Japan! Remember, you are perfectly within your rights to inquire about this in the store.

Audio Lab
36 J.F.K. St. Cambridge; (617) 864-1144
If you can work your way to the top of The Garage, that silly circular mall in Harvard Square, you’ll find Audio Lab. They primarily sell new products, but do repair work as well and so they have several shelves filled with refurbished items. An Onkyo cassette deck, for example, was seen for a mere $110. Open seven days, weeknights until 8 P.M.
