Various locations, Cambridge; (617)495-9400 You already know that Harvard is renowned in the areas of politics, law, medicine, and business. You may not know that it’s also the site of three art museums. What’s more, you pay one relatively low admission price $5, $4 for seniors, $3 for students and you get into all three! Great deal. Anyone under 18 is admitted free.
So, what’s to see? The main museum is the Fogg Art Museum (32 Quincy St), specializing in European and American art Special exhibits include sculpture, drawings, paintings, and prints. Tours are given Mondays through Fridays at 11 am. At the same address, the Busch-Reisinger Museum concentrates on German and northern European works.
Not far away at 485 Broadway, the Sackler Art Museum features classical and Asian collections. A recent special exhibit here called The Art of the Fan: China, Korea, Japan, featured painted and calligraphic fans and scroll paintings, including examples from the Sung Dynasty. Tours are given Mondays through Fridays at noon. All three museums are open Mondays through Saturdays 10 am. to 5 P.M. Sundays 1 to 5 P.M.
