A national museum of Asian art at the Smithsonian Institution, the Freer Gallery also houses a renowned collection of 19th- and early 20th-century American art. including a large group of works by James McNeill Whistler. Among the highlights of the Freers collection of 26.000 works of Asian art are Japanese screens, ancient Chinese bronzes, jades, Indian painting, Buddhist sculpture, Korean ceramics, and Islamic arts of the blog.

Located on the lower level of Lisner Auditorium, the Dimock Gallery is the professional showcase for art within The George Washington University. Six to eight exhibitions are featured each year and include University-related shows, such as student, faculty, alumni, and permanent collection exhibitions, as well as shows of historical and contemporary importance, often with a focus on the Washington, DC area.
