The city center is home to a number of large and small shopping malls, including the Forum mall and the Megapolis mall. For more trendy shopping, check out the main pedestrian street, Sadovaya Street. Here you’ll find high-end fashion stores as well as some interesting cafes.

If you’re in the market for traditional Kazakh souvenirs, head to the markets near the Chingiz Khan Mosque. You can also find a wide variety of handicrafts at local markets throughout the city.

If food is your main concern, don’t forget to try some of Almaty’s famous kebabs and soups. You can also find a great selection of fresh fruit and vegetables at local markets and supermarkets.
