MAKE YOUR WEDDING YOUR OWN AT A SEA FORT OR STYLED-UP PHOTO STUDIO

MC MOTORS, LONDON‘A photo studio by day, MC Motors has lots of quirky props so we barely needed to decorate it. We brought in the Disappearing Dining Club, which runs pop-up dinners in East London, to do everything else. Te venue looks like an ordinary shop from the outside – when our guests got of the London-style buses we’d booked to take everyone from the ceremony, their reaction was “wow”.

THE TREEHOUSE AT THE LODGE ON LOCH GOIL, SCOTLAND

Wedding venues don’t come more adorable than this – a treehouse with room for just 24. Squeeze guests in for the ceremony, then head back to the light-flled conservatory in the main house to continue your celebration, before sneaking of to the cute Summerhouse for your frst night. Tere’s also room for 14 of your guests to hole up until morning when a full Scottish breakfast will set you up to head of on your honeymoon.

SPITBANK FORT, PORTSMOUTH

Now this is a venue to get guests talking, not least because they’ll need to be transported on a fotilla of boats to reach it (afer they’ve sampled the rum-tasting bar on shore in the Departure Lounge). A former Victorian sea fort marooned of the coast of Portsmouth, this luxurious fortress can be your very own party isle. Inside the 15f iron-clad walls, there are eight boutique-style bedrooms, the Crow’s Nest up top for vows with a view, and the Ofcers’ Mess – with its exposed brick wall and arched ceilings – for the main wedding party.

NEWTON HALL, NORTHUMBERLAND

Although it looks like your typical Georgian country house from the outside, inside Newton Hall knows how to have fun, with lashings of playful ideas and a good dash of the eccentric (there’s a whole Costume Room dedicated to dressing up). Marry on the Wedding Hill, have your drinks reception on the beach (complete with vintage huts and a tractor with a trailer decked out in hay bales to take you there) before partying in the made-for-romance Garden Suite.
