The University Art Gallery features major exhibitions by nationally and internationally known contemporary artists. There are two additional galleries on campus. Graduate thesis exhibitions and select group shows are held in The Everett Gee Jackson Gallery, and undergraduate exhibits are primarily mounted in The Flor y Canto Gallery

Timken Museum of Art

The Timken Museum of Art is devoted to the presentation of the Putnam Foundations collection of European and American paintings and Russian icons. The European collection includes works by Frangois Boucher,

Pieter Bruegel the Elder, Paul Cezanne, Jean Baptiste Camille Corot, Jacques Louis David, Jean Honore Fragonard, Frans Hals, Claude Lorrain, Bartolome Esteban Murillo, Camille Pissarro, Rembrandt van Rijn, Peter Paul Rubens, Jacob van Ruisdael, and Veronese. Artists represented in the American collection include Albert Bierstadt, Thomas Birch, John Singleton Copley, Jasper Cropsey, John Joseph Enneking, Martin Johnson Heade, George Inness, Eastman Johnson, Fitz Hugh Lane, and Benjamin West.

San Francisco Academy of Art College Galleries

Facilities: Galleries (3).

Activities: Temporary Exhibitions.

The College also maintains galleries at 180 New Montgomery Street (415-788-6044) and 551 Sutter Street (415-274-8600). Call for hours. The galleries display temporary exhibitions of the work of students, faculty, and professional artists.

Ansel Adams Center for Photography

Activities: Lectures; Temporary Exhibitions (10/year).

Operated by The Friends of Photography, the exhibition program at the Ansel Adams Center for Photography is innovative both in its content and in its manner of presentation. Contemporary shows often are paired with historical counterparts. Education Gallery presentations are intended to acquaint children and adults with the mediums creative, technical, and functional traditions. The h riends has published more than 60 major catalogues, monographs, and critical anthologies on photography. A wide range of educational programs is offered for audiences of diverse backgrounds, including public lectures, gallery talks, a childrens darkroom program, and seminars. The Center maintains a collection of the work of Ansel Adams. „
