Though this isn’t a discounter, many items are low-priced; but that’s not the real attraction for Mine. Everything you see can be colorfully hand-painted with your child’s name (or anyone’s) at no extra charge. Now, that’s unique!
Pick out a clear-plastic lunch box, filled with candy and wrapped with a bow, for $10. A large wooden coat rack in the shape of any initial is $25. For just $5, you can get a ceramic piggy bank in the shape of a high-top sneaker. Same price for a set of 64 crayons, in a colorful carry pail, or an oversized plastic hanger (flat, of course, so it can be inscribed).
Scribble It can offer this extra service by having full-time artists on the premises. For an extra fee, more elaborate designs can be added. Most items can be personalized within a few days, but the nice folks here will try to accommodate rush jobs. The store even keeps index cards which track gifts purchased for local kids, so you won’t run the risk of duplication; after all, it’s hard to return a lunch box with Brandon painted on it.
The store is open weekdays from
10 A.M. to 5:30 P.M. and Saturdays from 10-5 (til 3 in summer).
