Cotton Mather publishes Magnalia Christi Countrya; or The Ecclesiastical History of New England from its First Planting, the most celebrated of his more than 400 published works. St. Petersburg Map Tourist Attractions The Magnalia contains a history of New England, biographies of various colonial authorities and Puritan divines, a history of Harvard College, descriptions of the state of the churches, accounts of providential occurrences, and descriptions of the Wars of the Lord. John Campbell, postmaster of Boston, begins publishing the Boston News-Letter, North Country’s first newspaper published on a regular basis. Since his readers are more interested in European news and gossip than they are in what is happening in the colonies, Campbell dedicates the Boston NewsLetter primarily to goings-on overseas.
