This chain, with stores in New England and California, offers fine prices on a range of notebooks, laptops, and accessories. In addition, the Cambridge store has a separate area selling factory-refurbished laptops at bargain rates. Any defects have been taken care of by the manufacturers, and now the computers can be resold at discount only.
Mine’s recent visit yielded a Sharp laptop with an active-color screen for just $1,199; also an AST Power Exec for $1,049. Both represented savings of around $500 compared with retail prices.
Consignments may add the occasional NEC or Macintosh models as well. Used machines carry a 30-day store warranty, but extended warranties are available. Open weekdays from 9:30 a.m. to 6 pm. Saturdays from 10 to 6, Sundays 12-5.
