In addition to a wonderful collection of art museums (see below), Harvard also has four cultural and natural history museums. The main museum is the Museum of
DeCordova Museum This fine museum is on the pricey side, but their outdoor sculpture park is always free .
Museum of Fine Arts The venerable MFA stays open on Wednesday evenings with entry by donation; toss in a buck and go.
Worcester Art Museum On equal footing with many of Boston’s hallowed institutions, this museum is much less expensive to enjoy. Admission is free on Saturdays if you arrive before noon.
Comparative Zoology, which studies modern animals and great fossils. Displays at the Peabody Museum of Archaeology and Ethnology give you a view into different cultures from around the globe. The Mineralogical Museum has room upon room filled with the most amazing colors of rocks and minerals. And the Botanical Museum is famous for its Glass Flowers display, absolutely lifelike plants and flowers of handblown glass.
Admission to the building includes all four museums for $4; students and seniors, $3; children ages three to thirteen, $1. On Saturday mornings from 9 to 11, admission is free to all. Regular hours are 9 a.m. to 4:30 pm. Mondays through Saturdays, and Sundays from 1 to 4:30 P.M.
