HMS President, lies alongside the Embankment close to Blackfriars Bridge and Pier. Formerly HMS Saxifrage, she is an Anchusa class sloop, completed in 1918. Her funnel was repainted silver in 2011. To the right, the Gherkin tower is in the heart of the City of London.

HMS Belfast, when launched the largest cruiser built for the Royal Navy, entered service in 1939. She was severely damaged by a German mine in the Firth of Forth in 1940. She took part in the destruction of the German warship Scharnhorst in 1944 and in the Korean War in 1950-2.
