The Snite Museum of Art has a comprehensive collection of over 19,000 objects housed in its 70,000-square-foot building. It mounts temporary exhibitions in addition to displaying objects from the collection. The majority of the Museums exhibit space is devoted to its permanent collection, which includes objects from antiquity to the 20th century, and features important works by Ghirlandaio, Claude, Bloemaert, Boucher, Eakins, Remington, OKeeffe, Rickey, Joseph Stella, and Jim Dine. Notable collections housed in the Museum include The Kress Study Collection, the Feddersen collection of Rembrandt etchings, the Butkin bequest of 19th-century French paintings, the Reilly collection of Old Master drawings, the Janos Scholz collection of 19th-century European photographs, and the Leighton collection of pre-Classic figurines. The Museum maintains a separate gallery of sculpture and drawings by Ivan Mestrovic, which is the American study center for his art.
