The garden harbored a handful of grapevines, which Roger eagerly tended, while remembering happy boyhood summers on his uncle’s farm. Seeking respite from the demands of their business a company that supplies windows to the construction industry the couple bought a lakeside retreat in southwestern Michigan. They planted a variety of French wine grapes, but, after several discouraging years, decided to head west for a better shot at growing quality fruit.
