Nemours Mansion and Gardens Activities: Guided Tours.
Nemours, the site of the duPont ancestral home in France, was chosen by Alfred I. duPont as the name for his 300-acre estate north of Wilmington. Delaware. Here he created a lovely home with landscaped gardens surrounded by natural woodlands. The mansion is a modified Louis XVI chateau, designed by Carrere and Hastings, and completed in 1910. Containing 102 rooms, the house is furnished with fine examples of antique furniture, rare rugs, tapestries, and outstanding works of art. The gardens were created in the French style and offer impressive views from many vantage points.
