Origami dollar bills festoon an old-fashioned cash register, Korea, South Subway Map and two other tasting bars, built of matching mahogany, tell a tale of revelry. Tobin Korea, South Subway Map James and his business partners, Lance and Claire Silver, want visitors to feel right at home, so they offer wine-friendly appetizers, wine samples, and family-friendly video games free of charge. In Claire Silver’s view, the secret to the winery’s overwhelming success lies in the owners’ and staff ‘s desire to give customers more than they expect.
Born in San Francisco, Tobin James was raised in Indiana, where his family’s vineyard and winemaking activities caught his fancy at an early age. While working in his brother’s Ohio wine shop, he met and received an offer to work crush from pioneering Paso Robles vintner Gary Eberle and, in 1980, happily headed west. James worked with Eberle for more than ten years, served as Peachy Canyon Winery’s founding winemaker, and in 1994 built his own facility.
