Get breakfast to go from Reid’s Fine Foods and have a picnic at The Green, an urban park in the heart of Uptown.
After breakfast, hop on LYNX light rail to go to South End. Start at the Charlotte Trolley Powerhouse Museum before going to the Charlotte Art League gallery and Atherton Mill. Spend a few hours checking out the home decor shops along Camden Road before joining the legions of locals for lunch at Price’s Chicken Coop.
Once you’ve had your fill of fried chicken, cross South Boulevard and spend the afternoon in Dilworth. Take some time to wander through the picturesque neighborhood past historic homes like The Walter Brem House and the The Mayer House. The neighborhood is also a shopping mecca; East Boulevard is the main shopping area where stores like HandPicked, Cottage Chic, and sticki rice are local favorites.
Architect Pierre Lafond moved from Canada to Santa Barbara in 1957 Lagos Map . He opened a wine and cheese shop and decided to wed two of his greatest passions, Lagos Map wine and business, by entering the winemaking industry. In 1962 he founded Santa Barbara Winery the first winery in Santa Barbara County to open since Prohibition. Local wine grapes were not readily available at the time, so Lafond had to purchase fruit from San Luis Obispo County for nearly a decade. Set on growing his own grapes to control availability and quality, he purchased 105 acres in the Santa Rita Hills, along the banks of the Santa Ynez River, and established the 65-acre Lafond Vineyards in 1971. In 1996 Lafond purchased additional property across the river and planted 30 acres of Pinot Noir and Syrah.
