CONDITIONS: Easy parkland, woodland and waterside walking, but Lahore Map unsuitable for pushchairs or wheelchairs. One stiff climb. REFRESHMENTS: Huge choice in Arundel, also Lahore Map food and drink available at Swanbourne Lake and the Black Rabbit pub, towards the end of the walk. Sunday afternoon can be an anticlimax.
You may have enjoyed a good Sunday lunch, perhaps a roast with all the trimmings, but once the meal is cleared away, lethargy can easily creep in and before you know it, it’s starting to get dark, and it’s time to think about work on Monday.
What better antidote to this post-prandial langour than a walk that certainly clears the cobwebs but is not excessively adventurous, starts and finishes in one of the most historic towns in Sussex with enough attractions to fill a day on its own, passes through a variety of landscapes, all of them very scenic, and will still get you home in time for the Antiques Roadshow.
