The name SoHo Bistro doesn’t conjure up images of Peking noodles, but it’s the best place for Chinese food in Uptown. The dining room at the family-owned restaurant is small and fills up fast, especially at lunch when hungry diners from nearby offices clamor for a table and crowd the entryway waiting to pickup their to-go orders. Avoid the crowds by having your order delivered or go during dinner when the dining room is much less frenetic. The food is fresh and the service is top-notch. The signature dish is the SoHo Platter, a combination of shrimp, chicken, beef, broccoli, snow peas, mushrooms, celery, and carrots in a tangy brown sauce.

It might not be the first place that comes to mind for an after-work drink or a night on the townbut it should be. The small bar has an impressive wine list, a diverse martini menu, and an extensive collection of Scotch. Cigars are on the menu, too. Light a stogie, order a glass of Johnnie Walker Blue Label, and relax before dinner. When it comes time to order, seafood takes center stage. The restaurant specializes in dishes that range from classic (shrimp cocktail and surf and turf) to creative (scallop quartet with sweet pea puree and rice-paper ravioli). The contemporary decor was designed to represent traditional fishing techniques with a modern twist. Ask for a table on the patio, overlooking The Green.

Don Juan Ponce de Le³n leads a Spanish expedition to the Madison Metro Map east coast of La Florida, seeking gold and slaves. He also searches for a mythical Madison Metro Map fountain of youth, whose existence has been hinted at in encounters with other native groups in the Caribbean region. The expedition is met by the hostile Ais, who drive away the Spaniards. The ships sail around the Florida Keys and up Florida’s west coast, where the Spaniards encounter the equally hostile Caloosa. Faced with the hostility of the native peoples, Ponce de Le³n temporarily abandons his quest for wealth in Florida. 1519 Hernando Cort©z and approximately 1,000 Spanish soldiers land on the east coast of Mexico. They begin an expedition into the heart of the Aztec Empire, subduing the native societies they encounter along the way through either intimidation or force. Cort©z and his men reach the Aztec capital of Tenochtitln within several months, where they are cautiously welcomed by the Aztec emperor Montezuma II. Cort©z’s intent, however, is not diplomacy but conquest.
